Tanaka Sake Brewery
We make local sake all year round using 100% Hokkaido rice.
Otaru has abundant water suitable for sake brewing with good quality due to its rich forest and regional characteristics surrounded by nature. At Kamekozo, the snow melted from Mt. Tengu in Otaru City has become underground water over many years, and is pumped from about 70m underground and used as water for preparation. The main ingredient, rice suitable for sake brewing, is 100% produced in Hokkaido.

Sake brewing is generally done in the cold winter, "Kanzukuri", but "Kikkougura" is brewed all year round, taking advantage of the cool climate of Hokkaido, nationwide. It is a rare sake brewery.

Otaru City is located in the center of the west coast of Hokkaido, on the east side of the Shiribeshi region, and borders on four municipalities including Sapporo City. It is a town with many slopes surrounded by mountains on three sides. There is Otaru Port, which is a good natural port, and the climate is oceanic with a small temperature difference in Hokkaido, so it is easy to live in. You can enjoy the rich nature throughout the four seasons.
